Boiler Repair

Found boiler with clean out cap blown apart. Furnished and installed replacement cap. Checked combustion air pressure. Inspected pilot assembly. Contacted manufacturer tech support. They suggested gas valve was opening too quickly upon start up which would cause the clean out cap to blow off. Energized boiler and observed start sequence. Gas pressure rose slowly and then spiked very high for a split second before returning quickly to normal. Adjusted gas valve to correct the spike in pressure. Will return to check and fine tune as necessary. Left boiler running normally.- Adjusted breech. Cycled boiler to observe gas pressures on startup. Momentary gas pressure spike much lower but still present. Boiler lit smoothly and ran normally during each cycle. Adjusted burner to lower O2 percentage. Suspect gas safety valve and gas pressure regulating valve beginning to fail. Quoted replacement valves.The boiler is operating properly right now.
